VANCOUVER DRAW DOWN FINALE

The Vancouver Draw Down Finale consisted of a series of two-hour come-and-go, all-ages 
workshops at each of the nine participating sites across the city.

Here is documentation for each of these events:


Sunset Community Centre

Creatures at Sunset

Participants were invited to drop by the lobby at Sunset and help create collaborative creature drawings. Each creature began with a random brush mark, and depended on at least three different people’s contributions.

Kitsilano Community Centre

Museum of Anthropology at University of British Columbia

(F)Light of Birds: Pinprick Drawings

The Museum of Anthropology is full of birds—visitors can find them everywhere they look. MOA's finale participants created pinprick drawings of birds in response to ones they found in the museum.

Creatures from the Land of Dreams


After visiting the amazing The Colour of My Dreams: The Surrealist Revolution in Artexhibition, workshop participants were able to get in touch with their inner Surrealist and tap into the collective unconscious through a unique collaborative creature drawing activity.

Britannia Draw Down Finale

Britannia offered a whole series of exciting activities as part of their Vancouver Draw Down Finale event. The Vancouver Draw Down "Face 2 Face" workshop presented an unusual portrait drawing exercise: one-minute, blind, continuous- line, contour drawings of another person's face. Participants also had the opportunity to try thier hand at "Funny Faces," a collaborative drawing activity, where each person drew one feature then passed the drawing along to their neighbour.
